Then, I saw loads of bspcamp pictures under their photos.

All of a sudden I just felt happy that bsp camp '07 did happen.

And that it brought people together. Hah

Hah, I didn't know so many people went for the camp until yea.

Anyway, all 32 of you again. (:

Haha, last friday's math's test didn't turn out well.

Not too well when you couldn't finish 2/3 of the questions in a paper.

Oh well, I need the 勇气 to face my ______ workload.

Somehow I'm unable to do well for math this year.

Much worse compared to the last 2 years. I don't know why.

4 tests in 2 days. 3 project works. 1 hrp.

Yay!

One day, this will end.

Won one and lost the other

Haha, I won the war against my headache. Lost the war against HRP.

Was having a bad headache (i never suffered from them, until like recently) this morning. Sharp pain from the side of the head. Yikes. Haha.

So while I was at war with the headache, I had another war to fight - the one with HRP. So I spent the whole day doing the HRP and nothing else.

And I lost to HRP. Hahah wth. I didn't manage to finish it though I can say it has been one huge step forward.

Will just attempt to get another extension from mentor, if not, just let her minus the marks lor. Or should I just act blur and put the paper on her table on next Monday? Sometimes, you are just caught up with whether you should act blur or be truthful.

And I got extensions for my project work, web reports. Real extensions lah. (:

And there's still NPCC tomorrow. Still have to perpare uniform -.-

Things seem to be going smoothly, even though they may not be going well...

Time to revise math!

Byebye, world. (:

hillary challenge (singapore) '07

Hello world (:

Back from hillary, finally. Quite an experience I shall say.

I think this is the best local-based outdoor adventure competition (or call it amazing race) thing I have attended. I have never attended OBSingapore, so I don't know about that. But hillary must be more coolios, in terms of its variety of activities.

I think the hwachong teams have been quite nice to the other teams, if not, at least I have been nice to the other teams -.- Lol. At least I told RV about not cooking by the concrete corridor and waved goodnights to some random teams when we walked by them okay!

For what others did to us, I shall not comment much (:

We weren't the strongest of teams at all! Come on, in fact, I think we were one of the weakest teams around physically. Look at all the other groups, all if not most, had at least one muscleman in their group. Our group had ZERO please. We were all damn small-sized people (except for elson, that is, who wasn't exactly a muscleman).

But we had loads of crappy ideas and creativity (: Attempted on the Tikam-anyhow-spam tactics. when we tried to random answer all the blanks for our ORIENTEEEERING component. Tell me, which other group is CREATIVE enough to do this. Hahhaha xD

At one point, I was going "according to newton's fourth law...". Hahha, when did newton had a fourth law?!

And I realised I have a couple of sources of motivation which kept me going going going. Mental strength, people. It's all in the mind.

I know I have been quite an irritating person throughout at times, pushing people too much. No-nonsense-listen-to-me-let's-get-going kinda person. Quite irritating lah, I know. But sometimes you just need to push people to their limits. It's only, at that point, people really find out how good they can be. You don't know how much you can do, until you really do so, you know!

I have never been like that at camps you know -.- Lol. When I went to OBSabah and Mongolia I was the back few. And I felt kinda bad about it. Both OB courses I had to really draw the strength for my mind. Haha. I was never the one leading around. But anyway I was suffering from other stuff throughout the hike - silently suffering. xP

Anyway, to all our HWACHONG/NANYANG team (and other hillary people, if you ever come here lol), take care! (all the injuries) Some of them are rather bad, e.g. bleeding blisters/shennan's open wound/etc.

Our TEAM was coolios anyway. One line is enough. No need to elaborate. Hahah. Our 8-man team. Elson, Bernice, Shennan, Renice, Eileen, Kenii, Junhui, Jonneo.

LET'S TALK ABOUT THE WHOLE HILLARY THINGO MAN.

DAY 1

Skip all the preparation part and registration-waste-time stuff. Fastforward to the bus. Everyone was stoning on the bus. Headed off to Changi Jetty and board the bumboat to Pulau Ubin. I expceted the part about going Pulau Ubin already. In the bumboat, hmm, rather surprised. (i was expecting that we will be kayaking back from pulau ubin alr). Off to NPCC campsite, which I also expected. Since there are no other campsites in pulau ubin other than OBS and NPCC campsite. Some logical deducation will make u choose NPCC campsite because MOE is working with the 8 UGs and would not pay money to use OBS for any other reason.

(before we even boarded the bus, we were given a task to come with a presentation on our team philosophy.)

Part 1. Pitch a NPCC tent. This task kinda gave us a slight advantage since we have got trained people to do so (: NPCC tents are (almost) my best friends. Hahah. We were the first to finish pitching (there were nothing awarded for speed) but it gave us time for our presentation anyway. Kinda motivated, since it was a good start to everything.

Part 2. Cook laksa. Hahha, this task was quite horrible. But nevertheless, fun. Cooking laksa. Junhui cutting the fishcakes. Shennan cooking hard-boiled eggs. Me starting the fire. Kenni and Elson and Bernice cooking. Eileen and Renice plucking beansprouts. Hahaha. The laksa was quite nicee. Really!

After that was just wash up. Preperation for the team philo presentation thing. Did a few rounds. Our skit was really really dumb. Hahah, dumbly creative. Then came the presentation time.

Some groups just stoned their way through (i dont know why they can stone so well when it states clearly that 'entertainment or something like that' is one of the criteria). Some groups was really good. Damn damn funny. Our skit pulled off well. Was rather surprised we topped this component. So surprised that, for a moment, I just went asking 'what did the judges say?' when everyone around me was YAYing. Lol.

Later on. Just pack up stuff. And (supposed to be) off to bed. Shennan was really quiet and getting loads of sleep, i guess he felt damn terribl then.

Most of the people decided NOT to bathe for some apparent reason, while I had total faith in NPCC campsite bathing facilities. Elson and I went to the bathroom, which was occupied by NO ONE ELSE. Hahaha. We were like half-stunned to find no one else there. Everyone else just went to the toilet near the kitchen, which was coughcough. Hahah. I had a good bath, refreshed and went back to pack up my stuff. Elson and I then went to walk around the NPCC campsite at around 11pm+ (when most people are either gone or EMOing at the campfire area which was rather random because there was only one or two visible stars that night).

Walking up and down across the field, to the kitchen, to the gate, to the bathroom, to the security post, to the map, to the canteen. One last time. Since I'm not going to come back as a CI. Quite a pity, haha.

Off to bed. Zzzz.

DAY 2

And the challenge begins.

Woke up at 4am, thinking that it's 5am. Was a bit frantic while unpitching the tents since we thought we didn't have enough time. Then after we realise it was only 0415, we slowed down but decided to unpitch and go sleep at the gathering area instead. Went to help to unpitch the girls' tent too.

Breakfast then. Pineapples can and random biscuits. Junhui finished a whole can of bakedbeans. Hahah. Then at 7, the 6-rotational-system station games thing started.

FIRST, had the shoot-the-ball-in-using-the-cannon thing. Our team did quite well I guess, I forgot how many we shot in. The machine was half-screwy at times, hahah.

SECOND, had to go into this pitch dark maze. Which I totally regretted not putting the torchlight in my pocket. Because it's my habit to put randomly-useful stuff into my pockets, I learnt my lesson later anyway (: We had to find words that were written on small wooden blocks pasted along the walls of the maze. I made loads of noises by banging against the (metal) walls which was the next logical way to feel your way/communicate. No eyes, then ears lah.

(interlude: elson having stomachache)

THIRD, rock climbing. Which we did quite well. The rock climbing was rather easy compare to the mongolia one, which I cannot even find anything to grab on. At one point my muscles were weary already so it was time for mental strength to take over. Haha, piaaa.

FOURTH, orienteering. Which was quite dumb, since we totally went towards the wrong direction for the first 20 minutes. Then I finally realised our actual location, which we then backtracked into the correct direction and reach the first checkpoint. But then we did well. And touched upon our human resource of creativity to strategize and came up with this ulimate tactic of random-filling-up-the-blanks-in-hope-to-get-one-correct. And the probability of getting one correct is rather high since there are only 26 letters. 2 out, 1 has been used for demostration and 1 for the only checkpoint we found. There were 18 or 19 checkpoints. 26-2=24. 18/24 = 3/4. The probability of success is 75%! Hahaha, omg.

FIFTH, dragonboating. Which was a warm-up for the real one later. We did quite well I guess. But we got ourselves all soaked in seawater. And there goes. Byebye, my shoes. Hahah

SIXTH, low ropes. Where we met pms-y instructors (from npcc, please lah, the instructors from other UGs are so nice, only npcc ones so attitude -.-). I was really pissed off and was simply chionging all the way. May have gone a bit overboard, but I dont really care (:

THEN came the CHIONG to SINGAPORE part. Where I KNEW there was the kayak to SINGAPORE component.

Got to the spice gardens. Which we deduced to be near the jetty. And NPCC led the way, of course. Pulau Ubin was more or less NPCC territory. At spice garden, we had to answer the names of the plants found inside the garden - picture provided. When we went in, we saw quite a few teams already, so we kinda under pressure. So we just chiong to fill up the names and went back outside to realise we only answered 9 correctly. We need to get 10 correct before being able leaving the place. This is where we utilized our ultimate random-guess strategy where General Knowledge came to power and we just managed to scrape through by guessing one correctly (:

Run off to the basketball/volleyball/badminton court (which NPCC people will see when you either walk to the NPCC campsite from the jetty). Cycling time. I got a lousy puncutred tyre bike, lucky I realised after cycling a few rounds and realising I was kind of bouncing around. Cycle Cycle Cycle, until we reached somewhere near the OBS campsite and near the sea.

Only then we heard of the tragedy of team A. ): Gaomin apparently hurt herself quite seriously while biking. It was all silence, and quite demoralizing, I guess. (get well soon!)

Next part. Dragonboating from Ubin to Singapore. Just as expected (: We started off as the 2nd group but ended up being the last. Hahah. Kayaking/dragonboating is never my strength. Don't know why any team with me will never kayak/dragonboat fast. We had loads of fun though, singing loads of songs along the way. At one point we were nearing anglician who were damn serious with their 1,2,1,2.. Haha.

Then was the hike to Lower Seletar Park. Nothing much, just walk and walk and walk to the park where we were there to see other teams having pitched their tent already. Oh and we kena chased up by another school because we went to the wrong direction. Dang dang. Haha. The walk was fun anyway. Just a long straight walk and passed by my cousin's house I think.

Bathing in a park toilet wasn't the best of experience but I think I was one of the few who really got to bathe throughout the camp. (after coming back from mongolia, you realise you gotta cherish every chance you get to bathe, hahah) Later on Bernice held her rubbish bag party and we all joined in. We spammed food (pineapples and stuff) and later on we just went to sleep. Creativity at work again. (: Oh and we didn't waste all the rubbish bags we brought by putting them at the 'doorstep' of our tents. Haha, so we still have a small area to stand on even after coming out of the tent. And I slept there for the whole night. Lols. Not to forget the loudloud raffles debrief, which many of us overheard - not much to our delight though.

Zzzz.

Day 3

Early in the morning. We were damn enthu with keeping our tents also. And we all ready to start off the day. Haha, our motivation was high high high in the morning somehow.

First task was to build a raft, using 2 two-man kayaks, some ropes, some logs. 4 paddles to paddle from one side of seletar reservoir to the other. Spirits were high so everything was fast. Started off as the 3rd/4th to launch off. Was the 2nd to reach shore (: Coordination man! When we reached everyone was damn enthu too, chionging to carry the equipments upshore and stuff. Haha, classic moment, when the kayak started floating away, I just jumped into the (muddy) water again to get it back. =O

Then was the hiking component with 110 optional checkpoints. We started off chionging. And I rushing everyone for time. 7 1/2 hours. To clear all and reach somewhere near serene centre (which we did not realise was botanical gardens until we reach there).

Went from Yishun to Yio Chu Kang to Bishan Park to Upper Thomson to Macritche to Stevens Road to Whitley Road to Bukit Timah Road. Long long journey.

Started off chionging. Which wasn't the best option. And missed the first checkpoint. And we had junhui to lead us in orienteering around singapore. He was damn good, I don't know if shennan calculated wrongly or what but he said we got 440 points. Which was quite weird, thinking team A only scored 300++ points. Nevermind nevermind. Decided not to bash macritche which would be rather dumb although the checkpoints inside are like 100/80 points as compared to the urban areas of 10 points.

The dumbest of checkpoints is the one at our school outgate. "How many footprints are there on the pavement?" 4 years in my life in hwachong, i didn't realise there were footprints there. Hahha wth.

Along the way, it was tiring. There were unhappy moments. I may have pushed too hard, I don't know. But I tried to ease and control it already. My competitive nature dont like me seeing how teams overtake us. My strengthsquest's top 5 strengths are all task-oriented stuff. Lol. I tried to more people-ish already. I hope I am.

After going to the serene centre / botanical garden, most of us were damn tired already. Only cleared a few checkpoints (compared to the wtfomgbbqworzx team A which cleared 11 checkpoints). Hahahah.

Then we had the victory march into CCAB and there came the FINAL challenge.

BUT before talking about the challenge, I was rather surprised to see some of my sec3 squad there. Motivation (:

Then we were briefed about the final challenge. Had to run around CCAB to collect items before proceeding with another task. Had to fill up a long plastic tube with water such that the ball-like thing will float and drop out of the tube. The tube had loads of holes so we had to find ways to prevent water from seeping out while trying to fill the tube. Then after the ball-like thing is out, use chopsticks to transfer it into a cup at the stage.

I was just totally 200% on frenzy. Running like I'm gonna die the next moment. After getting the 5 items, we had to fill it up with water using water from this barrel. Which was constantly lacking in water. All the groups were freaking fast. Then they decided that we can get water from ANYWHERE.

This is where the HWACHONG (and nanyang) power pwns all. HWACHONG school power is the most imba one lalalala. hahaha xD

HWACHONG TEAM SPIRIT owns all.

So, in the end, we were one of the only 3 teams to finish the task on time. WOOHOO!

After that I was totally going to the HC people and HWACHONG HWACHONG *clapclap* HWACHONG HWACHONG *clapclap*. Totally high (:

And finally the hillary challenge came to an end.

FINALE

Later on we had the prize presenation thingo. The montage was pro-ness, taking into acconut the effects they had to do, and that the content was apparently ready only at the last moment. They included pictures up till the FINAL challenge! Haha, for that, I still got a long long way to go to learn all the proded com skills (: OH, I was quoted for 2 secs btw. Hahah

I was quite SUPRISED we got 3rd. Seriously. I shan't elaborate. But I didn't had an single inch of thought in my mind that we would got 3rd. But still (: (: (:

(Haha, the funny part about this was that the guest-of-honour was mr teo ser luck (which happened to the MP i was attached to during my MP attachment thing) so he was like 'Hello! How are you?' when he saw me. Hahha, damn funny.)

(was kinda sad for team A... cuz they would have pwned the other teams totally if not for the unexpected tragedy. but, in life, such things happen. so yeah.)

Anyway, Anglician was good, they came in 2nd! Haha, I seen them leading in various occasions. One of the first few teams the HC teams met. Hahaha, but one thing i can remember about anglician so well because one of them apparently said 'goodbye sir' when I passed by them in my NP uniform during the presentation prelims round. Hahaha, hwachong SI pwns worz =O

Raffles came in 1st. That was kinda expected. Lols.

SO it ended there. Loads of things to reflect on. Loads of thing to think back and appreciate.

But the pace of life is so fast and that we have to move on.

(CHEM TEST THIS WEDNESDAY, DAMN IT.)

And we will get there. (:

I'll write you a song

Hmm.. realised I haven't really been touching my blog since school reopened.

Dreadful school days. Tests and tests and more tests, I think I'm just accustomed to all these rubbish already.

Math test down. Bio test down. Upcoming Chem, Chinese, English, Math (again), Bio (again)... Oh well.

And there's hillary challenge! Both HC-NY teams got into finals. Top 12 teams of Uniformed Groups in Singapore. We own worzxz. Hahah, wth.

And the BSP and SLC outings (since sch reopened) goes on (: Gogogo, people!

Lucky, model asean summit was relatively fun. Kinda (too) academic.

Haha, so I'm the ex-press team, design team and assistant director for human rights community person, aka neo yee chong (jonathan) the 'jonathan' which I had write on the tag myself cuz the document left it out from my name.

Chaired a few meetings here and there. First time doing so though. The first try was quite freaky, lack of confidence and stuff. I have never tried this in my life, darn. Haha, the second, third was more okay. I hope my chairing was okay (: Up-to-standard I hope. If someone finds the chair irritating, then I think I did quite well, cuz the chair is supposed to be irritating and abide by all the (dumb) protocols.

For human rights, the delegation of Brunei (aka ispark group) was totally irritating. The others like Malaysia, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam did quite well. Philippines was like silent throughout the community meetings, but did quite well for the actual summit though.

The montage wasn't exactly well done (because yours sincerely only had 30mins to rush it out. darn.) Haha, I guess most people have not heard of the song before, so the feeling's kinda not there. But the song is nice! Admit it (: (it's the one at the top btw)

That's all for now.

And you know from this song that I just can't go on without you
