Wednesday, September 26 Oh well, not again
I think in a short span of few days, in the context of the classroom, I have seen a lot that reflects about the society, the environment, the type of world we live in.
Haha, I'm in an extremely reflective mood again.
Nevertheless I think I have come to know of quite a bit of incidents occuring in a short span of a week or two. None of them are quite pleasing actually. I shan't go into them but they are quite saddening.
Sometimes we think that we are smart. No, actually I guess we are indeed. Too smart for your own good. Ever heard of the phrase "聪明反被聪明误"? No, we do have certain individuals that are contributing. (In fact, I have a post on the people who I pretty admire but I shan't post it until eoys are over.) We have, but not enough. While it takes a hundred persons to do good, it only takes a person or two to fail us all. At the end of the day, after a year or two, I don't know what would be the kind of memories left for me to reminisce.
While I'm pretty glad to see how flexible the school is in giving us alternate routes (there are a few cases of subject-droppings, but I guess they have tried really hard. It doesn't make sense for them to persist on something meaningless to them anyway. ), I'm rather turned off by those who do not make the effort and try to exploit the system for their own benefit.
I lamented enough of this. So I'm gonna stop here.
I think I will see worse things when I go out to the society.
Conclusion: live with passion; stand by your beliefs.

"What is beauty to you?" Embark on a narrative detailing your perspective on real beauty including a battle with anorexia - something that would move, inspire and engage readers.
Wri-THIN-g is a writing competition for secondary school students. The fundamental aim of this contest is for the participants to re-evaluate his or her personal definition and perspective towards real beauty. At the same time, examine how positive reinforcement and an affirmative outlook with regards to inner beauty can help current patients tackle the ramifications of anorexia nervosa.
The theme for wriTHINg! is “Shatter from Within; Desire to be Thin”. Students are strongly encouraged to contribute non-fiction articles. The narrative should detail the writer’s personal perspective on real and inner beauty. In addition, the narrative should document an individual’s struggle with anorexia, and his or her eventual triumph over it – something that would move, inspire, and engage readers.
Our project is supported by the Health Promotion Board and proudly sponsored by the Singapore Totalisator Board as well as Logitech. Attractive prizes to be won, including X540 Speakers, QuickCam Fusion and a first prize of S$500!
Not that I will be put down by the word because of what it brings about and all.
But there is something wrong with how we are judging people. This achievement-orientated culture in a fast-paced society we lived in, where meritocracy and pragmatism comes into play.
It makes it all sad when we start to build on our portfolio. Maybe we haven't built anything on our person yet.

Even till now, I guess teachers' day still isn't complete without making a trip down to kong hwa to see how things have changed.

I saw jianliang (never seen him for so bloody long) but he doesn't seem to recognize me. So I didn't go to wave hi at him, but i'm regreting now. Schoolbus mate for 6 years - us being in the first and last class. It didn't matter - we were all gd friends. Don't know when I would ever seen him again. Guess we are all very different people on very different paths. Hah, the primary school memories. 有缘再相会吧。

Was kinda sad that only a few of us went back. It was really a few of us. Was kinda sad hearing about all the class gatherings from other secondary or primary sch friends.
At the end of the day, I guess it's not about how much you cry on that day of depature but how much you value and treasure the memories in you.
